Podunk Meets Paradise Re-Boot

I started this blog in 2012 when I happened upon an atrocious review of my beloved Salmon, Idaho. The first post was my attempt at introducing readers to our hometown. Over the next few years, I made observations about this place, my family, our travels, our music…anything that I felt could benefit from just a touch of sarcasm.
I got lazy in the last few years and I rarely posted anything. And then, in May 2018, for my 50th birthday, I got Stage 3 breast cancer, which is not at all what I had asked for. I took a big break from the blog because I was having a hard time finding the humor in a lot of things. I wrote in my journal, mostly to help me keep track of the days until I was done with chemo, then done with surgery, then back home from radiation. And it was almost never funny.
Eighteen months later, I’m alive and very well. I am humbled, extraordinarily grateful, and still a little bit sarcastic. But I’m also changed profoundly, and I don’t know what that means for the writing. Thanks for your patience as we find out together.
What I can assure you is I’m still a small town girl (Podunk) who lives in a small town place (also Podunk) that just so happens to be Paradise.
Welcome back to your blog! Canβt wait to read your new observations.
Nice to know you’re back with the blog, a favorite of mine. I’m looking forward to more news from Podunk in 2020! Cheers for the New Year to you and yours!
A letter is coming your way, Jim. Damn those chocolates are good!! Thank you and much love to you and yours!
I’m so sorry to hear about your life changing situation. I hope that you continue to do well and heal completely. I really missed your blogs, but it is very understandable why you weren’t in a good place to write. Self care is your #1 priority. I hope to meet you sometime. I lived in Salmon in the 70s & 80s, moved away, but always felt the Podunk Pull calling me back. We moved back in October and we are so very glad and grateful to be back. Take care of yourself and I do hope to meet you someday.
May our paths cross soon!
NICE JOB!!!!!ππΌππ»ππ»ππ»

Thanks for the encouragement, pal!
Way to reboot, Podunk. I’ve been in serious withdrawal. Nice to have you back, and improved at that!
Come home soon, Mitty.
Imagine my delight at seeing an auto-generated email from Podunk in the midst of all the junk emails about New Yearβs sales. π Good to see you back and cheers to your re-booting!
Thank you, Lurlynn! Loved the photo of the kids. Eu is killing the hat!
Cheers to you, lady. So nice to see that shining face and read your witty prose again.
