Podunk on Location: Australia, Part 4
Alright, alright, Gentle Readers, I get it! I left you hanging in Australia, and considering our string of misadventures (Argentina, Frank Church Wilderness, and even others I didn’t tell you about), I gave you good reason to think we never left Oz.
Calm Your Farm, we landed safely back in Podunk. But not until we were thoroughly smitten with Australia and Aussies.
We left the rigors of Hunter Valley wine country for a delightful stay in the Kangaroo Valley, about 2 hours south of Sydney.

While in the Kangaroo, I experienced a deja vu birthday, celebrating in Australia and then waking up the next day to birthday wishes from the USA. Brilliant! To make matters more spectacular, an angel sent directly from Heaven gifted me (and my lucky companions) with the finest bottle of wine I’ve ever been entrusted with.
We spent a night in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, the next morning plunging under Minnehaha Falls. Maxi Haha is more like it. The Falls gets the last laugh by sporting an incredibly arctic pool all the while appearing convincingly tropical. Those Cold Water Therapy kooks can bite me. Ice baths are a terrible idea and I very nearly had a heart attack shortly after my double birthday.

Hyperthermic, we moved towards the new highlands stomping grounds of our old pal, the Fixer, who just so happens to work in a massive brewery.

After a few weeks in the countryside, we returned to Sydney. If one has to be in a city, Sydney is a damn good choice. We couldn’t get back to the Sydney Fish Market (3rd largest in the universe) fast enough for Chef.

The Sydney Harbor is notoriously beautiful, but the hotels are a bit pricey and tall for my taste. We found a groovy little neighborhood called Glebe that suited our hickster selves. Glebe charmed me with its quaint architecture, international eats, eccentric Saturday market, but mostly it’s just really fun to say Glebe.

We did not get stuck in Australia, but the time spent Down Under will stick with me for a long while. G’Day!
Because Glebe.
I’m glad you got to catch up the Fixer!
I like being referred to as a Gentle Reader, gave me a zen feeling to start my day.
My farm is calmer now that I know you made it back safely!
